Stacker Systems for Bulk Material Handling

Stackers are Bulk Material Handling equipment used mostly in the Cement Industry, Power Generation Industry (coal, gypsum, limestone) and Pulp and Paper Industry (woodchips), to stack Bulk Material on a Stockyard. Thanks to the Stacker System, the longitudinal piles can either be shaped in a chevron or in a cone shell mode.

AMECO traveling and luffing Stackers were designed to store Bulk products in longitudinal piles on one side or on both sides of a Stacking Yard Conveyor, which are parts of a Stacker machine used in power plants or in coal mines. Slewing Stackers are also possible, in order to create Circular Stockyards.

All AMECO Stacker Systems are composed of:

  • a Tripper Car, transferring Bulk Material from the incoming Conveyor to the Stacker Boom
  • a Traveling Carriage attached to the Stacker Tripper
  • a luffing and Slewing Stacker Boom

Stacker Tripper Car

The Tripper Car is an important portion of any Stacker. It is designed to allow the incoming Conveyor to bring the product to an elevated position at any given position of the Stacker along this field Belt Conveyor. AMECO uses Belt Conveyors for Bulk Material Handling because of their high bulk carrying capacities and low power requirements.

Belt Conveyors are used for carrying coal and minerals in power plants or mining industries.

Every AMECO Tripper Car traveling carriage is fitted out with idle wheels, rail cleaners and rail obstruction detectors.

Stacker frame structure

The Tripper Car frame is fixed on a traveling carriage and consists of sections and wind braces to form one or more sections depending on its final size. It is equipped with Conveyor pulleys, troughing idlers and belt cleaners.

To handle your Bulk Products, AMECO can provide you with two types of Stacker frame structures: Stackers with hydraulic luffing systems and Stackers with cable winding drums luffing systems.

Stacker with hydraulic luffing system

The Stacker with hydraulic luffing system is widely used for coal handling in the power industryFor Stackers with hydraulic luffing systems, the structure is quite simple.

It consists of a base with four legs on top of which a Stacker Boom articulation support is installed. The legs are connected to traveling carriages either with four or eight wheels, and the back of the base is fitted out with a connecting point for hydraulic cylinder.

Stacker with cable winding drums luffing system

This Stacker type has a cable winding hoisting drum and hoisting boom. It is mostly used upon client’s request for large machines when counterweighing of boom is not feasible. The base of this Stacker structure is equipped with a hoisting boom, with boom brace and counterweight boom.

The hoisting drum is installed either onto a second platform or directly onto the hoisting boom. The top of the hoisting boom is fitted out on its top with the upper cable sheaves, while the lower sheaves are installed on a bail connected to the Stacker Boom.

Stacker Boom structure

The Stacker Boom structure is either designed using square tubing for outdoor applications or twin I-beams constructed of heavy plates with bulkheads and wind braces for indoor situations. Also the design of the Stacker Boom is arranged differently for hydraulic luffing Stackers as it would be for luffing systems using cable winding drums.

The Stacker Boom is equipped with all Conveyor components and belt drive components. Access is arranged at the side of the Stacker Boom structure either on one side or on both, allowing maintenance access for the Conveyor and its components.
